Call for Applications: Join the FACETS editorial board as an Early Career Researcher (ECR) Editor



FACETS is inviting applications for early career researchers working in diverse disciplines around the world to join its editorial board. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about peer-review and contribute to the growth and development of the journal. The ECR Editor role will also provide opportunities to work closely with members of the editorial board and the Editors-in-Chief. 

ECR Editors will work under the guidance and support of Subject Editors, Senior Editors, and Editors-in-Chief in:

  • Learning about finding suitable reviewers, how to synthesize peer reviews, and providing feedback on manuscripts to authors.
  • Handling a maximum of 3 papers a year.
  • Serving as an ambassador of the journal at meetings & events and actively encourage submissions from researchers within your network.
  • Promoting journal articles, collections, and new initiatives on social media.
  • Participating in Board meetings held in conjunction with the Editors-in-Chief, Senior Editors, Subject Editors, and journal staff.
  • Providing input on any new journal development initiatives.
  • Proposing topics and authors for research and review articles, perspectives, communications, and collections within your area of expertise.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Postdoctoral fellow or early year faculty member working on ecology and evolution, zoology, science communication, epidemiology, and (or) ethics (includes research integrity) research.
  • Have defended their M.Sc. or PhD thesis within the last 5 years.
  • Have some experience in scientific publishing, e.g., contributed on published research articles or served as a reviewer on manuscripts.

Term:

  • The term for FACETS board members is three years, with possible renewal for a second term. This term is flexible in that it allows for breaks of any kind (e.g., family leave; health reasons, time off required for field and laboratory work, etc.).
